Foundation's models in Poland and in Europe
„The role and models of foundations in Poland and in Europe” is a series of seminars organised by Polish Donors Forum and the Polish-German Cooperation Foundation. The most recent seminar concentrated on public benefit organisations.
In the first part of the meeting Joanne Edwardes from Charity Commission (UK), Burkhard Kustermann from Association of German Foundations and Daniel Csanady from Budapest Collage of Management presented the situation of PBO’s in their countries.
Afterwards Polish experts: Witold Gintowt-Dziewaltowski, Tomasz Schimanek, Jakub Wygnanski and all seminar participators discussed the status of PBO’s in Poland, their privileges and legal obligations.
There were a few key points in this discussion:
• the definition of common good
• a reform of legal framework for the operation of foundations in Poland
• the role of external supervision and control
• transparency and reporting
• balance between business activity and non-for-profit purpose
This initiative is held under the patronage of the Marshal of Polish Senate – Mr. Bogdan Borusewicz.
